In the next seminar organized by the Amsterdam Centre for Urban History, our ESR Rukayyah Reichling will present us with her ongoing research about Mecca. Drawing on visual material from the late Dutch colonial period, she will in her paper uncover the colonial gaze that was directed towards the most holy city of Islam.
